The Liberty Theatre Photo Gallery
Little Theatre on the Bay or “LTOB,” is the second oldest continuous acting group in the state of Oregon. Its productions are characterized by consistent quality shows, and we produce musicals, dramas, comedy, and variety shows of all kinds. LTOB was organized in 1947 in Coos Bay, Oregon, and performed live plays on radio station “KOOS.” In 1948 they developed a group charter, and starting acting in various venues around the Bay Area. In November of 1953, a modern movie theater called the “Port” was opened, and the Liberty Theater in North Bend was closed. It remained that way for four years, until the LTOB group leased the building in 1958. The first theatrical production there was “The Tender Trap,” directed by Hope Cahill, on June 19, 1959. We encourage people of all ages to audition for our shows. Come join us on stage and find yourself acting, singing, and maybe even dancing as you make new friends. We have no paid staff, just volunteers who love the theatre arts, and if you would like to work “behind the scenes,” we always need help with costumes, makeup, stage sets, or selling concessions in the lobby.
